Filed under: Crossover , Mercedes-Benz , Diesel If you’re wishing and hoping for more diesel in the U.S., it looks like your best bet may again be placed on the Germans. Wards Automotive quotes Mercedes-Benz USA President Ernst Lieb as saying that the 2.2-liter Bluetec diesel will rest under the hood of the 2012 GLK . The oil-burning mill will likely cost a few thousand dollars more than the petrol-powered GLK, but fuel economy from the diesel four-pot will of course be vastly superior.

Sure, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer always fields a highly competitive juggernaut of a racing team, despite being a small fraction of the size of its chief rivals. But, with the recent signing of fan-favorite and nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi , it would seem that the focus will never be more, um, focused on the bright red racers.

According to Autocar , the market will get another addition coming in from Japan, and the UK pub’s sources say it’ll be previewed in March at the Geneva Motor Show .

AMG’s new baby – the M157 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 – is finding a home in nearly every new Mercedes product, and when fitted to the CLS63 the blown mill is good for 518 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque… in standard form.

Ferrari had a two-time champion at the helm and a hungry wingman to match. McLaren had the reigning champions from the past two years in what was dubbed a “super team.” Brawn GP was bought by Mercedes-Benz , which then brought the most successful driver in F1 history out of retirement.
